Suspiria (1977)

Suspiria (1977)(86) Suspiria sees Dario Argento at the height of his maniacal powers: his visual fetishes entirely unfettered, spellbinding camera movements crawling the vivid scenery, the roaring Goblin score propelling an ensemble of colorful characters toward twisted fates, their expressive performances illuminated by a multitude of surreal hues, outshined only by elaborate slasher sequences and gross-out moments that make this run-on-sentence of a review seem understated by comparison. Suspiria certainly makes for an enticing entry point into Italian horror, but it just may spoil run-of-the-mill Giallo for newcomers.
