Land of the Dead (2005)

Land of the Dead (2005)(83) From a technical standpoint, Land of the Dead soars above Romero’s later zombie films. It has fewer holes than Diary or Survival, yet it can’t quite hold its own with his original Dead trilogy. Land explores some interesting new territory, despite drawing inspiration from early ‘00s genre entries – themselves owing their existence to Romero. Though it may boil down to “let’s all move to Canada,” Land’s social satire is enjoyably tongue-in-cheek, and its narrative is elevated by a crackling performance from Dennis Hopper.
