Battle Beyond the Stars (1980)

Battle Beyond the Stars (1980)(76) Part Star Wars cash-in, part Seven Samurai/Magnificent Seven remake. Battle Beyond the Stars is certainly hammy, but it packs enough heart and originality to offset what it lacks in swank. Its art direction is all over the place, the ship designs are just as zany and inventive, and the cool combination of an inspired score by space-maestro James Horner and a genuine sense of humor makes Battle Beyond the Stars an easygoing, cult-classic science fiction experience.
