(78) In the opening moments of Age of Ultron, which parrot the “assembling” montage of the first film, we can already sense something is different. The tone is darker and the rifts between team members run deep. These divides are central to the narrative. Whether this tonal shift is a welcome one depends on what you want out of an Avengers flick. While it may work in later entries, these moody blues don’t exactly jive with Whedon’s wit-fest formula.
