300 (2007)

300 (2007)
(75) Brotastic and bullheaded without remorse, 300 is a distillation of Miller’s darkest impulses into a simple syrup. There’s little sign of the real introspection present in The Dark Knight and Sin City. Likewise, free from the philosophical brooding of projects like Watchmen, Zack Snyder pours himself entirely into the visual aesthetics of the film – which is where it excels. Despite a minimalist color-palette, 300 is every bit as visually arresting as it is intellectually punishing.
