(86) The most prudish among us may be alarmed to learn that Fast Times at Ridgemont High is the product of a year-long ethnology experiment by filmmaker (then reporter) Cameron Crowe. For many, Fast Times serves as a hilarious reminder of the mess that was public high-school. Amy Heckerling directs this all-star cast to a gallery of unforgettable performances. In fact, the world would be a better place if Sean Penn could shrug off his bravado every now and again for more carefree performances like this one.
