Fargo (1996)

Fargo (1996) (94) After an initial screening of Fargo, the disclaimer included at the onset (that “the names have been changed” but, “out of respect for the dead, the rest” is portrayed just as it happened) is sure to elicit a chuckle. Even the most obscene acts are presented in a way that brings to light how silly the whole ordeal really is. The great triumph of Fargo is its ability to execute so ghastly a tale as pure comedy while leaving its characters’ humanity intact. Seldom are murder mysteries so funny or endearing, let alone both.
