(91) After Arrival and 2047, one can imagine the visual splendor we’re treated to in Villeneuve’s take on Dune. The vistas are sweeping, and the costume designs more grounded (if a bit safe). Splitting the first novel across two films affords the space to do justice by Herbert’s classic, yet one worries about the impact of this strategy on how much of the franchise we ultimately get to see on screen. The key players are well acted, and it would be a shame to not see the series fully realized on film.
