(78) Return of Daimajin hits a lot of the same notes as its predecessor, and is largely successful at marrying a class-conscious samurai picture with a monster movie finish. The franchise is, at its core, righteous vengeance enacted upon those who have been given every opportunity to amend their evil ways (if only slightly) and have chosen a dark end. The human story might not be quite as engaging this go around, but Return is altogether no less satisfying.
