King Kong (2005) (79) Peter Jackson’s Kong is both a continuation of his spiral into excess and a showcase of his most captivating imagery. There’s genuine beauty here, strapped together with extended sequences of rubbery CG buffoonery. Engaging performances are the real marvel to witness, with our actors’ eyes revealing more of the story than all the poetic musings of Walsh, Boyens, and Jackson. However the effects may age, an emotional performance from Watts ensures we all buy into the gigantic gorilla onscreen.
