Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)

Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) (87) “There’s a little something extra in virtually every frame of [this] dazzling remake,” wrote Janet Maslin in her 1978 review for The New York Times. The panache that Kaufman brings to this project is enough to overcome pacing issues in an otherwise excellent screenplay by W. D. Richter. Anyone who’s ever felt alone in a crowd will identify with the primordial terror running through the heart of this picture. As best of many takes on “Body Snatchers”, this film will leave you eyeing your neighbors with uncertainty.
