(79) If a Godzilla or Gamera film were to save its kaiju action for the final moments, it would surely face the wrath of angry fans. Daiei did just that with an all-new kaiju and, in doing so, created an entirely different kind of monster movie. Daimajin is three parts samurai epic and one portion monster mayhem. Unlike most movies of its kind, the human story – set in ancient Japan – is one of its greatest assets, rather than an obstacle.
